Post-Production 2: Final Edits

     This week, we finished our final filming and had the raw footage ready for editing. We have started doing our editing of the final draft in PremierPro. We decided to make the mise-en-scene bright and cheery to showcase that the Alex, Sabrina, and Victoria are excited for their first day of school and to see the boy they all like, Troy. We decided to cut down on transitions and not make them as crazy because of our class feedback that there were too many. We also edited the video so the volume of the girls is louder and easier to hear, since classmates told us in our first draft it was hard to hear the conversations. To help with the volume even more, we decided to remove masks for filming and the volume is much better even in the raw footage. We made sure we had many different camera angles to really show expressions, and fit the mood of the scene we were filming. We also used these different angles to give viewers as many perspectives as possible without it getting confusing to follow. We used a variety of angles like close-up and high angle shot. We also were sure to use different camera movements, one in particular we used was pan.  

Since we re-filmed the entire film, we are having to edit all over again as well, but our editing will be much different, especially since the wrong editing software was used the first time. We are now strictly using PremierPro to edit our film. We are primarily focused on addressing all of the peer comments we received on our first draft, and making our editing as clean as possible. Personally, I am editing the majority of the film since I was in it and Ashlee filmed. My editing responsibilities include adding transitions to make sure everything flows well, adjusting the volume, editing lighting, etc. Ashlee added music to some parts of the film and we decided on the music.
