Post-Production 1: Making Changes
We were not satisfied with our first draft of our film and decided to re-do it completely and change the entire script as well as the actors and locations. We re-wrote the script and made the plot more obvious and interesting. We decided we would have the first scene be the girls arriving to school together and getting out of the car to talk about their first day. The girls’ main conversation is about seeing the boy they all like, who is Troy. We filmed this scene in the Tami Sola parking lot. The next scene is the girls walking through the hallway and stopping at the lockers to talk. In this scene, they are all looking for Troy because they haven’t seen him yet. Alex, who is the main character is a mean girl and thinks Troy likes her best out of all of them. The last scene is the girls arriving to class and Troy coming in right as the last bell rings. Alex says hi to him and all the girls get flustered.
Since the last update, one of our group members, Elena Bretoi, has dropped the class. It has been just me and Ashlee working on our project and re-doing it now. We assigned new roles to be Jordan Sabuda as Troy, Lanie Phillips as Alex, Ella Phillips as Sabrina, and me (Skylar Schultz) as Victoria. Since I am a character in the film, I will contribute more to the editing process as well as writing majority of the new script. Ashlee filmed the movie clip and we have now begun editing with PremierPro. Our class feedback mentioned that it was hard to hear in our first draft, so we are turning up the volume of the girls’ voices when they have conversations. We also plan to limit the amount of transitions so it isn’t too much and is easier to keep up with what’s going on. I feel confident in the new conversations we added and the script change to be able to efficiently show our plotline and allow the audience to understand what is going on and what the main idea is, which is all three girls being best friends and going to their first day of school with the boy they all like. We have finished filming and are now finishing up editing this week to prepare our final draft.
